Management Team
Drew Herrington has a BA in Managerial Economics from Hampden-Sydney College and has dedicated much of his career to sales and marketing. Prior to founding New Line Environmental, he helped guide corporations as a leader in industrial sales for General Electric. An avid outdoorsman, he has a keen focus on environmental concerns. Through cutting edge coastal restoration techniques and clean water best management practices, he is directing New Line to make a direct impact on global environmental issues.
Glenn Landrum has a BA in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mississippi. A co-founder of New Line, he recently managed a marine design and manufacturing firm for more than a decade. There he was responsible for the design of the largest liftboats in the world. Today, he has switched gears from marine engineering to environmental engineering. He enjoys the challenge of solving real world erosion control problems and improving water quality techniques.
Drew Herrington grew up in south Louisiana, amidst vast fields of
sugarcane. He came to realize that cane processing plants had a
problem disposing of bagasse, the waste plant fiber leftover from the sugarcane milling process, and began researching ways to use the vast quantities of this byproduct. Gardening mulch and hydromulch quickly showed the most promise, and SweetMulch™ was born.
Bagasse is recognized and sought out for its unique characteristics. The sugarcane plant is about 94% water, so the plant material is naturally porous and attractive to moisture of all types.
Sugarcane's natural affinity for water retention enables it to be both
gardening mulch and a high quality hydro-mulch. New Line has also
developed products including an oil absorbent and a storm water filter medium. The storm water filter tubes can be installed on construction sites to prevent silt and toxic hydrocarbons from entering waterways. New Line has incorporated a patented process to pasteurize, mill and package raw sugarcane fiber to produce SweetMulch™.
Today, New Line Environmental has successfully field tested all products and is bringing those products to market. The company has
grown from product sales and development into a full-line erosion control contractor utilizing the latest in storm water technology and coastal erosion techniques. |
